The Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University and Yuying Children's Hospital are the top three comprehensive hospitals in Zhejiang Province. Founded in 1976, formerly known as Bethune Clinic of Wenzhou Medical College, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College was established in 1982. In 1988, he also hung the Children's Hospital Affiliated brand to Wenzhou Medical College. In 1991, with the donation of Mr. He Chaoyu, a Taiwan compatriot, a new children's hospital was built, and the children's hospital was renamed Asahi Children's Hospital, affiliated with Wenzhou Medical College. In 2004, Zhejiang Provincial Liyuying Hospital was added. In 2005, it merged with Wenzhou Cardiovascular Disease Hospital and established the Nanpu Branch of the Second Affiliated Hospital. In April 2009, two hospitals were established: "Affiliated Second Medical Orthopaedic Hospital" and "Affiliated Second Medical Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital." The hospital has six major campuses: Xueyuan Road Campus, Nanpu Campus, Longwan Campus, Oujiangkou Campus, Taizhou Women, and Children's Campus, and Longwan Rehabilitation Hospital. Longwan Campus, Oujiangkou Branch, Taizhou Women and Children's Hospital, and Longwan Rehabilitation Hospital are under construction and expected to open in the next two years. Currently, there are 14 disciplines (departments), 89 departments (teaching and research departments), 186 sub-specialties, more than 130 specialist clinics, and 2667 open beds.
